Obituary For Kenneth A. Turco
Salem – Kenneth A. “Sonny” Turco, 96, beloved husband of the late Caroline B. (Maag) Turco, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023 at the home of his daughter Norma and son-in-law Tom Miaskiewicz in Salem, with his loving family by his side. Sonny and Caroline enjoyed 67 years of marriage until her passing fourteen months ago (1/12/22). Born and raised in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Lucio and Adeline (Gentile) Turco. He received his education in the Cambridge school system and attended Cambridge High & Latin School. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy. Following the War, he continued serving his country for eight years as a member of the Navy Reserves.
Sonny and Caroline met and fell in love at the Bedford Veterans' Hospital, where he was employed for over thirty-five years as a Nursing Assistant, retiring in 1980. The majority of Sonny’s life was spent with his beloved wife and four wonderful daughters on Sluice Pond in Lynn. Sonny is survived by his four daughters and their husbands: Sherry and George Olson, of Lynn; Linda and John Vasapolli, of Saugus; Norma and Thomas Miaskiewicz, of Salem and Carolyn and Peter Morin of Brookline NH. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Michelle, Joseph, Jennifer, Kristen, David, Steven, and Daniel, along with ten great-grandchildren and another one on the way. He leaves his sister, Mary Noonan of Lexington and was also the brother of the late Tanina Palermo and Rosario Turco. Sonny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. He was a former member of the Sons of Italy in Saugus. Sonny’s favorite past-times were cooking his delicious Italian food for all to enjoy, tending to his vegetable garden, along with all the fun family times spent on Sluice Pond. His favorite saying was “All I need is Family.”
ARRANGMENTS: Viewing ceremony will be held at the Conway, Cahill -Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by his funeral Mass at St Ann's Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody at 11:30 a.m. A burial will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
