Obituary For Llewellyn G Oliver

Llewellyn G. Oliver 94, of Peabody, husband of the late Rose (Costa) Oliver, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, following a brief illness. He was born in Gloucester on July 20, 1927, son of the late George and Mary (Braun) Oliver and his loving stepfather, John Viegas.

Lew was a strong-willed man of few words who didn’t hesitate to share his thoughts when necessary. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was a WWII veteran and served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division. He enjoyed conversations discussing his days as a paratrooper and the thrill he felt with jumping from planes.

A professional structural iron worker, he was a proud member of the Iron Workers Local Union No. 7. He was proud to speak about his work and shared extensive stories about his work on the Prudential Center.

Lew was passionate about his lifetime service to Jehovah’s Witnesses. He and his late wife Rose were devout in their faith to Jehovah God and practiced their beliefs in all aspects of life.

Lew was a lover of animals, and over the years, he welcomed many animals into his loving home. In his spare time, he took great pleasure in relaxing and enjoying the good weather sitting outside by the pool on his deck and spending time with his family. He was an avid lover of sports and enjoyed watching the Patriots more specifically Tom Brady. In his younger days he enjoyed his time as a little league coach in Ipswich.

Lew will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

He is survived by his children; daughter and loving caregiver Charlene Verga and her husband Kevin Verga of Peabody, Gregory Oliver of Gloucester, Linda Szydlo of Ipswich, Lori Oliver of Gloucester, and John Belbute of Portugal, Godson James Balestraci, grandchildren, Arielle Richardson and Joseph Verga of Peabody, Christopher Mondello of Beverly, Marae Perruzzi of Florida Jessica Brown of Seattle, Justin Lezon of Amesbury, and Casey and Michael Oliver, both of Gloucester; several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his family unit which includes the Congregation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. He is also survived by his sisters Shirley Keffler of San Diego, CA and Lorraine Rudolph and her husband Levi of Gloucester, and his brother Louis Oliver of Brandon, FL. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Rose; his sister Mary Balestraci; his brothers Raphael and Leland Oliver and sisters-in-law, Ruth, Gerry and Mary Oliver

Llewellyn’s Daughter Charlene would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to her father’s long time caregiver aide Kenneth Stevenson.

In keeping with his wishes, a service will be held by the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Saturday April 30, 2022, at 1:00 PM and will be held virtually due to Covid restrictions. The Zoom ID is 893-0205-0247 and the password is 607BCE.
