Obituary For Manuel S. Goulart

Peabody - Manuel S. Goulart, 87, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Monday November 14, 2022 at Care One at Peabody.

Born in Faial, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Daniel and Maria (Freitas) Goulart. Manuel was raised on a farm in Portugal and worked as a farmer until immigrating to the United States in 1978 where he settled on the Northshore. He lived with his sister Tina Vargas, her husband Joseph, and their daughter Ivone of Salem. He lived with them for many years and became very close with Ivone and later on her husband and children.

He had been employed at the Bleyer Factory in Wakefield, as well as a shoe manufacturing company in Salem where he was an assembler until he retired.

He was a member of the CLC Club, the Portuguese American Post and the Holy Ghost society all in Peabody. He loved to play cards and spend time with his family and friends. Manuel is predeceased by his brother, Joao Goulart of Portugal, sister, Maria Terra and her husband, Januario of Salem, his brothers-in-law, Antonio Ortins of Beverly, Joao Azevedo of Portugal and Joseph Vargas, and his niece, Ivone Silva.

Manuel is survived by his sisters, Tina Vargas of Salem, Ann Ortins of Beverly, Leonor Furtado of Peabody, Bernadette Azevedo of Portugal, as well as his brother, Jose Goulart and his wife, Liduina of Peabody. He also leaves behind Ivone’s husband, John Silva, and his great nephew, Kyle Silva, great niece, Tiffany Silva and her husband, Raymond Brackett IV all of Salem, his godchildren, Ausenda Cabral of Stoneham and Rosamaria Goulart of Portugal as well as many other nieces, nephews and other family.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody, Monday, November 21, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
