Obituary For Maria Luisa Amaral

Maria Luisa (da Silva) Amaral, 84, of Salem, died Sunday April 23, 2023, surrounded by her family at her daughters home following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Manuel Do Amaral.

Born in Faial, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Joao Pereira and Maria do Ceu (Mariano) da Silva. She was raised in Portugal and immigrated with her family to the United States in 1973 and has been a resident of Salem for the past 50 years.

Maria worked on the production line at GTE Sylvania in Danvers for many years before retiring. Throughout her working career and life, she continuously learned new skills to improve herself.

She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, the Holy Ghost Society, and the Portuguese Continental Union, all in Peabody. She also enjoyed gardening and hosting many holiday gatherings for family and friends.

Maria is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carlos and Mona Amaral of Salem, her daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Helder Quadros of Groveland, her brother and sister-in-law, Ludgero and Belmira Silva of Peabody, her beloved grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Nicole Quadros, Dustin and his wife Laura Quadros, and Brandon Quadros, her great grandchildren, Brayden and Elle Quadros and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her loving husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Maria da Luz Gomes.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by her Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Walsh Ave, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
