Obituary For Maria Silva

Maria Boa Nova Silva, 95, of Salem, Ma, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, November 12, 2022. She was the devoted wife of the late Jose’ Silva. Maria was born in Pico Azores, Portugal, November 10, 1927, the daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Serpa) Sousa. Maria was raised and educated in Portugal, later settling in the United States with her family. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and carried with her a strong faith. Maria was employed for several years in the leather works industry as a leather worker. Maria is survived by her loving daughter, Alda Garcia and grandchildren, Cliff Garcia and Elizabeth Garcia. and brother, Jose’ Serpa. She was predeceased by her faithful husband of 60 years, Jose’ Silva and brother, Jose’ Serpa. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours, Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 4-7PM at The Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody, MA 01960. A funeral Mass will be celebrated, Friday at 11:00AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 1 Margin St, Peabody, MA 01960. Burial will immediately follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Salem, MA.

    Pete and I have many fond memories of the time we've spent with Maria. I will always remember playing cards with her when we visited the Azores. I am not exactly sure what Maria was saying about Pete's card playing ability, but I have a good idea. She will be missed.
