Marie Theresa (O’Conor) Prisby passed away peacefully at the age of 89 in San Diego, California on September 18, 2021. Born to Thomas and Anna (Keaveney) O’Conor in Peabody, Massachusetts on September 4, 1932, Marie entered the world with intelligence, beauty, and curiosity.

She spent her childhood on Boston’s North Shore, attending St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Peabody, where she excelled academically. One of 13 in her graduating class, she was awarded a scholarship to Newman Prep School, now the Newman School, in Boston. She then attended Boston College.

At the age of 20, Marie married Donald Edward Prisby of Beverly, Massachusetts, and for the next 26 years, they moved from coast to coast as the U.S. Navy directed. Marie and Don retired to San Diego, California in 1977 where they enjoyed the wonderful weather and she, the beautiful flowers. Don, Sr. passed away on June 8, 2013 at the age of 83.

Her loving family celebrates her life: children, Kathleen (Wallis) Damon, and their children, Christopher, Stephen, Andrew, Caroline (Adrian) Dumbauld, and their children, Elise and Macy; Eileen Prisby; Patricia (Luigi, deceased) Fumagalli, and their children, Anthony (Ijeamaka), and Dante; Donald (Elizabeth) Prisby, Jr., and their children, Michael (Laura), Matthew, and Mitchell; Edith (Richard) Moser, and Richard’s son Lee; and Elizabeth (Bruce) Andrews.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Don, Sr., her parents and two brothers, John O’Conor and Thomas O’Conor, and cousin, Mary (O’Conor) Roche.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 3 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Peabody. Following the service, her ashes will be interred at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Salem.
