Obituary For Mark J. "Tex" Levesque

Mark “Tex” Levesque, age 54, peacefully passed away on August 14th after complications with pneumonia, lovingly holding the hands of his mother and brother. Mark was born in 1968 on the very first day of May. He grew up in Peabody, MA where he was quickly known as a great fun-loving kid in the neighborhood. A loyal friend, loving brother, son, and companion, Mark’s spark, personality, and love for family, friends, and fun will be remembered by all who knew him. Mark’s inviting grin and charismatic way were understated but proved to be the perfect recipe to make everyone feel welcome and included. A great storyteller, Mark always enjoyed entertaining others and always strove to make others laugh. With a salted jab of sarcasm combined with a splash of compliment, Mark’s ability to break the ice immediately set you back to the last time you were together and made you feel like family.

Mark’s passion for baseball stood out and was something that has been a legacy within his family starting with his grandfather Jimmy Russell. The self-proclaimed “Wiffle Ball Master,” Mark had a pitch like no other and will be remembered fondly for tournaments at Emerson Park. A sports enthusiast, Mark was a big fan of the Indy 500 and made annual treks to watch the races taking great pleasure in spending time there with friends. His love for live music made him one of his brother’s biggest fans, and he often supported him at gigs as well as attending many concerts together. An adept tradesman, Mark worked most recently as an assembly technician at Axcelis in Beverly and previously had his own contracting business. Mark is survived by his mother Kathleen E. Levesque of Peabody and his brother Kevin J. Levesque, and his wife Leslie, along with their children Ella and James of Salem, MA. In addition, he leaves his longtime companion Danielle McMahon. He was predeceased by his father Kenneth M. Levesque.

His funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist, 17 Chestnut Street, Peabody. Visitation hours will be Thursday, August 18, 2022, 4 - 7 PM at Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s name may be made to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445, www.jimmyfund.org. May God bless you, Mark, your wonderful family and the many friends you leave behind. The glory days of my youth were spent as your battery mate behind the plate and getting to the park earlier than everybody else just to play catch, warm up and talk about the BoSox.

Kathy and Kevin, I am so sorry for your loss of a beautiful soul! Tex was such a great "guy" friend that I could always talk to him about everything from sports to politics to everyday life struggles that we were going through!!! We both had a craving for hot and sour soups so we would venture out and try to find the best Chinese Resturant with the best soup! We would rate them and compare them and then make lists of where to go next!!! Forever in my heart and prayers! Love you my friend! RIP Tex! Mary (silke) Houlden

My deepest sympathies to all that loved Tex. He was a kind gentle soul. He was a true gentleman, always fun, and entertaining. He will be missed.

Tex was a dear friend of my parents, Patty and Frank Splaine, and became a staple at our "family Sundays" at West Beach. He was the man on the grill - cooking for up to 30 people at times - and always took extra care to make sure that everyone had what they needed or setting aside a burger for someone who was running late. A tedious job on a hot summer day, but Tex did it with a smile and without complaint. He was so special to our family and his company "on the wall" at West Beach is what we will miss most. My deepest condolences go out to Tex's family and friends who are grieving this untimely loss. The Splaine's loved him big and will miss him very much! Love, Katie (Splaine) Fabiano

Kathy and Kevin, I can't begin to express how sorry I am at Mark's passing. We were like family growing up and Mark's loss feels like the best part of my youth has been lost with him. He was a shining light and a great friend, even though he always beat me at card (and most other things), I will always keep his memory close. I wish there was something I could write to ease the pain you must be feeling, but please know I am with you with all my love
