Mark Shriver Besterman, 59, of Peabody passed away peacefully at his home on December 18. He was the son of Peggy Roaf and the late Donald Besterman.

Mark was born in Pittsburgh but spent most of his life in the area north of Boston. He attended a special education program at Masconomet Regional High School in the early 1980’s. Shortly after that, he began employment at Bass River Inc. He worked there in multiple positions, engaged primarily in light assembly work.

Mark was a well-loved and much respected long-standing member of the Bass River community. Being a bit of a prankster, he was well known for his sense of humor and his ability to bring a smile to nearly anyone’s face. Mark could always be relied upon to help those that he cared about in any way that he could. Mark had an interest in the creative arts and was a movie buff; his prime interests being the Marvel Universe and horror movies. The people in his life were extremely important to Mark, his friends, his housemates and his family. Mark is pre-deceased by his father.

He is survived by his mother, Peggy Roaf and her husband Edward, and by his brothers Derek and his wife Jackie and their children Kirsten and Jeremy, and Scott. Mark is also pre-deceased by his long-time housemate Brian Phillips. He is survived by his current housemates, David, Ben, Chris and Robert. Mark will be missed by them, the entire Bass River community and especially his loving family.

His funeral services were held privately and were arranged with the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy can be made in his name to Bass River, Inc, 437 Essex St, Beverly, MA 01915.
