Mary Ellen (Collins) Foley, 75, of Peabody died peacefully on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home, Danvers after a short illness with her family by her side. She was the devoted wife of 40 years to the late David “Terry” Foley Mary Ellen was born in Peabody MA, on November 7, 1945, the daughter of the late Arthur F. and Ellen M (Joyce) Collins and was a lifelong resident of Peabody. She was a graduate of St. John’s High School in 1963 and was a computer analyst with the former Jordan Marsh Company in Auburndale for 25 years. She later worked at the GTE Sylvania, Danvers for 15 years and then at John-Jay Associates in Peabody prior to her retirement. Mary Ellen enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. Her most amazing skill was that she taught herself to lip read at a very young age due to her hearing impairment. This allowed her to communicate extensively with others. Her family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Twin Oaks Nursing Home and Care Dimensions for the compassionate care that was given to Mary Ellen.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Rita Collins of of Peabody, her nieces and nephew, Julie and her husband James Michael Thibodeau of Peabody, Elizabeth Ann Collins of New York City and Kevin Joseph Collins of Stowe VT, her brother-in-law, Thomas and his wife Dora Foley of Florida, a sister-in-law Judith Brown and her husband Robert of Groveland. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia O’Dowd.

Her funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021, at the family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
