Obituary For Mary Margaret Moore
Mary Margaret Moore, 73, of Salem, died early Thursday morning surrounded by her loving family following a one-year courageous battle, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was the beloved wife of Marcia A Brennan with whom they shared over 33 years of marriage.
Born in North Quincy, she was the daughter of the late George Patrick and Evelyn (Goldberg) Moore. She was raised and educated in North Quincy and was a graduate of North Quincy High School. She continued her education at Emmanuel College and received her bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State College, and later received her master’s degree from Antioch College.
Mary Margaret had a long and distinguished career as a civil rights and social justice advocate. Her career took her all over the country, from working with FEMA to working for the Department of Mental Health in Boston and for the Independent Living Center in Salem. She worked tirelessly for civil rights and disability rights for all.
She was a member of the Danvers Fish and Game, Over the Rainbow Dinner Club, and the National Council on Independent Living as well. She was well known for her love of pink flamingos and her pink highlights in her hair. She enjoyed watching Sponge Bob, cooking, painting, reading and going on Facebook.
Besides her loving wife Marcia, she is survived by her daughter, Robin and her husband Kevin Lesher and their son Drake of South Carolina, and is also survived by her three grandchildren and four great grandchildren, the Joyce family of Cape Cod, MA, the Moore family of Missouri, the Brennan family of MA and NH, and many loving friends. She was predeceased by her brother, George Moore, her three sisters, Rita, Gail, and Sheila and by her son Thomas Gagnon, Jr.
Following cremation, visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM followed by her Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
