Obituary For Mary Zolotas

Peabody - Mary (Gambos) Zolotas, wife of the late Stephen M. Zolotas, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Admired by all who knew her for her energetic personality, thirst for knowledge, do-it-yourself ethic, and passion for the arts. Mary began her creative journey by learning to play piano and developed an abiding appreciation for classical music. In her seventies, she was inspired to begin painting, working in watercolor, acrylics, and more experimental media, mixing her own colors and building her own frames, with influences from Cézanne to the abstract expressionists. She also enjoyed crafting wreaths and greeting cards to give to family and friends. Always modest about her talent, Mary's work nonetheless was recognized with an award from the Peabody Art Association. But, Yiayia always considered her true masterpiece to be her family. Her home was a haven of creativity, laughter, and love. Mary is survived by her 4 children: Michael Zolotas and wife Harriet; John Zolotas and wife Gia; Dolly Zannino and husband John; and Debbie Ianuzzi and husband Mark. By her 7 grandchildren: Mark Ianuzzi and wife Colleen; Stephen Zolotas and wife Brittany; Anthony Zannino and partner Lani Asuncion; Christina DiMare and husband Joey; Cassandra Zolotas and partner Anthony George; Johnny Zannino and wife Nita; Gregory Zolotas and wife Marissa. By her 10 great-grandchildren: Aaron, Cameron, Maggie, Michael, Tessa, Phoebe, Johnny, Niko, Leo, and Theodora Shaila. She is survived by her sister Anna Andrews, many nieces and nephews, and predeceased by her brother Andrew Gambos.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. All attendees are required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. Services following will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
