Obituary For Mathew N. Ambeliotis

Mathew N. Ambeliotis, 85, of Trinity, Florida, formerly of Peabody, died on Monday, September 20, 2021, at the Gulfside Center for Hospice Care in Florida following a brief illness. He was the devoted Husband of the late Ruth R. (Orgettas) Ambeliotis with whom he shared over 55 years of marriage prior to her passing in February 2019. Born in Chios, Greece, he was the son of the late Nikolaos and Kyriakoula (Manaras) Ambeliotis. He was raised and educated in Chios, Greece.

Mathew had worked in the Greek Merchant Marine after his high school days in Greece. After a couple of years, he emigrated to the United States. Once in the United States, he worked in the construction business throughout the country as a bridge construction foreman. He then lived with his oldest brother Michael and his family in Warren, Ohio until he met his future wife Ruth and settling in Peabody in 1964. Mathew spent the next 30 plus years working as the plant production manager with his wife and her family in the family business, Travel Leather Company, located in Peabody, Massachusetts.

Mathew truly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family and enjoyed spending time with them. Family was what mattered most to him. Mathew was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Nicholas and Elizabeth Ambeliotis of Gloucester; Carol and Kenneth Pinette of Tarpon Springs, FL and Michael and Nino Ambeliotis of Danvers, his ten beloved grandchildren, Virginia, Emily, and Nicholas Ambeliotis, Jr, Mathew, Ted, and Michael Ambeliotis, step-granddaughter Veriko Gagnashvili, and James Bremis, Cassandra Vigil, Mathew Bremis, and Arianna Bremis; his sister Ifigenia (Ambeliotis) Koutsouradi of Chios, Greece and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was predeceased by five siblings, Marina Ambeliotis of Chios Greece, Michael N. Ambeliotis of Warren, OH, Markela (Ambeliotis) Simoudis of Chios, Greece, Panagiotis N. Ambeliotis of Chios Greece, Katina (Ambeliotis) Tsemberlis of Chios, Greece.

Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021, at 9:00 AM from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Service at 10:00 AM in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church,5 Paleologos St, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mathew’s memory to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA., 02241, or The National Kidney Foundation, 500 Taylor St. Suite 101, Columbia, SC 29201-3000.
