Obituary For Matthew Trelegan
Matthew Trelegan, 38 years old, a lifelong resident of Peabody, MA passed away peacefully at his home in the arms of his loving mother, Diane Trelegan, on Wednesday November 30, 2022.
Matthew courageously battled many health issues his whole life including cerebral palsy and kidney disease. Matthew had one transplant and so many other surgeries. He went for his dialysis treatments three days a week for twenty three years at Boston Children's Hospital. Matthew surprised many with his desire to fight and his determination to pull through his health battles time and time again to get better. His doctors and nurses referred to it as "Matthew's Way".
Matthew made many, many friends along the way at Boston Children's Hospital. His nurses and doctors became his second family and he loved them all. We are forever grateful and would like to thank them for the wonderful care they gave him and for always being there for us.
Despite his many challenges, Matthew was always happy and smiling. Matthew was always strong, positive, brave and courageous while fighting these health battles throughout his whole life to stay healthy; So he could enjoy the things he loved most in life.
Matthew loved spending time with his mom, listening to music, going to concerts, watching a good movie and just hanging out in the backyard with his mom enjoying the warm sunshine, and he especially loved going out to eat along with enjoying all his favorite dishes that his Nanny made for him.
Matthew is survived by his loving mother Diane Trelegan. He was her beloved son, best friend, and her other half; just as she was his loving mother, best friend and his other half. The love between them is an unbreakable bond. A bond that merged them into one. You did not see one without the other. Matthew was blessed to have a caring, diligent mother who advocated for him, and devoted her life to taking care of him full time. It was her unconditional love, full time care, support and devotion throughout his journey that helped him overcome so many obstacles that he was dealt. He was her world; just as, she was his.
In addition to being survived by his mother, he is survived by his loving and caring grandmother "Nanny" Mary (Lima) Trelegan of Peabody. He was the grandson of the late loving grandfather "Grampy" Francis Trelegan. His aunts Donna Sproul, Debbie Champa, Jennifer Trelegan and Erika Musto. His uncles Al Sproul, Bill Champa end Steve Musto. His cousins Alvin, Jonathan and Justin Sproul, Zachary, Alex, and Cameron Champa, Nicholas and Emily Christensen, Joshua Trelegan and many loving friends that he held dear to his heart.
Matthew will be dearly missed by all and will always be remembered for his big smile that he had for everyone he ever met.
Family and friends are welcome to attend A Celebration Of Matthew's Life at Kowloon, his favorite restaurant, on Sunday March 12, 2023 from 1 pm-3prn- at 948 Broadway (Route 1) Saugus, MA.
