Obituary For Michael and Mary Pyburn

Michael Edward Pyburn January 19th, 1954- December 30th, 2021 Mary Elizabeth Pyburn May 1st, 1956- January 19th, 2022

Michael Edward Pyburn (67) passed away peacefully at his home in Seabrook, NH after a brief illness on December 30th, 2021 and Mary Elizabeth Pyburn (65) passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Exeter Hospital in NH on January 19th, 2022.

The couple met across a crowded room in the mid 1970’s at the Summit Dance Club in Peabody, MA. After a wonderful decade together, they were married on April 20th, 1985 at St. Anne’s Church in Peabody, MA. Mike and Mary then settled in Seabrook, NH where they raised their two beloved children, Virginia (Ginny) and David. Mike and Mary were the perfect balance as a couple. Everything they did was for each other and for their family. It was this selflessness and love that kept them together for over 40 years.

Mike was born in Salem, MA to Robert and Edelmira Pyburn. He attended Peabody High School and then joined the United States Army. Mike served as a Field Wireman in the Army from 1972-1975. He was stationed in Germany and remained in the Army Reserves until 1978. Mike worked as a Machinist for many years and retired from Cobham in Exeter, NH in 2015. Mike was a man of many hobbies. He enjoyed hunting/fishing, Harley Davidson motorcycles, taxidermy, playing the drums, gardening, helicopters, HAM radio, antique radio repair, and astro-photography, just to name a few. Mike was a dedicated father, husband, papa, brother and friend. He had a wonderful spirit, witty sense of humor and a pure heart. He made a friend everywhere he went, loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Mary was born in Weymouth, MA to James and Lois Finley. She was raised along the coast in Hingham, MA and attended Hingham High School. She went on to graduate from Salem Hospital School of Nursing in 1978, where she met many of her lifelong friends. Mary worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years in various hospitals such as Salem Hospital, Anna Jaques Hospital and Exeter Hospital. She also worked in multiple settings such as acute care, nurse management and intensive care. Mary retired from nursing in 2018. Her nurse’s mentality spilled over to her personal life where she was the person everybody could turn to for support, life advice, or a warm embrace. She spent her life dedicated and devoted to helping others, and was a phenomenal nurse and person. Mary loved to laugh, travel, and have family gatherings. Her hobbies include ancestry/genealogy, boating, reading, coin collecting and being near the beach. Mary loved the ocean and lighthouses, and was a devoted mother, sister, nana and friend.

The Pyburn family is survived by Michael’s sister Anna, Mary’s brothers Robert, David and Jim, sister Margaret, many nieces and nephews, and their adored children Virginia and David. Their only grandchild, Catherine, held a very special place in their hearts.

Arrangements: Visiting hours and burial will be private. A celebration of life will be announced by the family in Spring/Summer 2022 which will be open to the public. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project and/or The Special Olympics.

Mike and Mary were great welcoming neighbors. Mike and I enjoyed long talks, he was funny and knowledgeable. We would talk about anything. He had many tools and if I was ever short on one he would let me borrow it. Mary was always helping, from shoveling snow to mowing lawns for neighbors. She had an infectious smile, when you saw her she glowed with happiness and joy. The memory that comes to mind when I think of them is their smiles as they rode their bicycles up and down the street. Mike would sometimes use Mary's bike and ring the little bell when I would say hey nice bike that color looks good on you. Our little street that we live on will never be the same, they filled it with joy and love. My deepest condolences to their family!
