Obituary For Michael V. Ciarletta

Peabody - Michael V. Ciarletta 86, beloved husband of the late Marolyn E. (Fader) Ciarletta, passed away suddenly, yet peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2022, at his home in Brooksby Village.

Born and brought up in Lynn, he was the son of the late Americo and Palmena (Ventresco) Ciarletta. Mike was educated in the Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army while being stationed in Germany. Following an honorable discharge, Mike had some success in the baking business until becoming employed by the airline industry, working at both Eastern and American Airlines until his retirement in 1999.

Mike met the love of his life, Marolyn, in the mid 60’s, leading to a marriage in 1972. For 48 years of fun and adventure, they were seldom apart.

M & M, as we called them, traveled all over the world including their special location, Italy. Closer to home, they enjoyed destinations such as Tricky Pond, Nordic Village, and Mt. Washington Hotel usually with relatives and friends joining in the activities there. However, their undisputed favorite was Martha’s Vineyard where nephew Jim, his wife Loretta, and their son Keith usually joined them in the sun, sand, and sea.

The couple enjoyed fine dining, attending the Boston Symphony, bird watching, cross country skiing, playing contract bridge (accumulating masters points), and spending time with friends and family. They were especially delighted when young Keith, of whom they were quite fond, was able to spend the day with them. Exploring all over the Northshore and Boston, their favorite spot had to be the Museum of Science.

Mike had a good sense of humor and an easy laugh. He was quite the flashy dresser in his prime, wearing attention getting socks as well as brightly colored sweaters such as Coogi’s. Never one to pass up a good poker game, Mike usually came out ahead. Living next to Gannon Golf Course, Mike became a member and an accomplished golfer. After his playing days ended, he enjoyed watching golf and other sports as well as a good PBS British mystery. Mike was on top of current events including politics and finance. As the evening wore on, he enjoyed a glass of fine wine or cognac.

Sunday was a special day for Mike and the family with a visit to a local restaurant, occasional celebrations in the afternoon, followed by a spirited, low stakes card game in the evening. He will be sorely missed by all his friends, relatives, and neighbors.

Michael is survived by his brothers, Joseph and Marilyn Ciarletta of Wakefield, and Paul and Wendy Ciarletta of Lynn, his nephews, William L. Fader Jr., Robert P. Fader, James D. Fader, and his wife Loretta, all of Peabody, and his grandnephew, Keith C. Fader of Texas.

Arrangements: His Funeral service will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting will be held in the funeral home prior to the service on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Burial in Waterside Cemetery, 294 W Shore Drive, Marblehead.
