Peabody - Mildred E. (Carroll-McKinnon) Tweed, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, wife of the late Thomas R. McKinnon and the late Robert E. Tweed, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 7th, 2023, at The Kaplan Family Hospice House, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born on February 9, 1931, she was the cherished daughter of the late James and Mary (Burke) Carroll. Mildred's life was a testament to love, strength, and resilience. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, James McKinnon and his wife, Faith-Anne (Missy) McKinnon and Michael McKinnon all of Peabody,

Mildred's heart carried the memory of her late daughter, Carol McKinnon Meade, who left us too soon. Carol's spirit will forever be cherished in our hearts.

Mildred's love extended to her grandchildren: Thomas McKinnon and his wife Kenzie of Georgetown, James McKinnon and his wife Nancy of Peabody, Matthew McKinnon and his wife Mary of Wakefield, Cara McKinnon and her companion, Aldous Hoffman of Orono, Maine, Mitchell McKinnon and his wife Laurel of Ontario Canada, and Courtney Monica of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Her great-grandchildren brought her immense joy: Kaila, Jackson, Rae, Chase, Mia, Meadow, Aria McKinnon and Isabella Monica.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

And a special thank you to Teresa Bielawa, who provided support and care during her final years. And to Kelly Kilduff her hair stylist of 30+ years.

Mildred was preceded in death by her brother, James Carroll and sisters-in-law, Barbara Carroll and Anna Waitt.

Mildred was employed for many years as a secretary at the former Sir Mutual Insurance Company in Peabody until the time of her retirement.

She had a great love for music and dancing and was well known in dancing circles throughout the North Shore. Mildred was also a member of the A.O.H. Lady’s Auxiliary in Peabody.

Mildred's life was marked by her unwavering love for her family. Her quick wit was unparalleled, and her clever remarks and light-hearted banter brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. Beyond her humor and wit, Mildred was an example of strength. She faced life’s challenges head-on, demonstrating steadfast resilience. Her ability to persevere through difficult times served as an inspiration to many, and her strength will continue to be remembered and cherished.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut St., Peabody, Friday, September 15, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
