Obituary For Ned Joseph Peluso

Ned Joseph Peluso, Age 87, passed away unexpectedly on August 24th, 2023.

He was born on January 8th, 1936 in East Boston, to Joseph and Maria (Spadaro) Peluso.

He leaves behind his loving wife Gloria (Falzarano) of 62 years, his daughters Bonnie Malo, Sandra Dowd and her husband Sean, his son Michael and his wife Elaine. Grandchildren Ryan and Jillian Malo, Hayley and Riley Dowd. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by his brother Dominic, his sisters Phyllis, Connie, Grace, and his son-in-law John Malo.

He attended East Boston High and then enlisted in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Corporal. After his military service, he worked for the Vermont Marble Company as a master mason. He then became a Peabody firefighter, completing a distinguished career spanning 32 years. While working for the city he was one of the most sought after interior painter and wallpaper hanger covering North Shore walls and ceilings for over 40 years.

Ned’s passions began and ended with his family, spending as much time with them, helping them, loving them and giving them the best lives possible. He took particular joy in his vegetable and flower gardens and pool, which we nicknamed Club Ned. He loved to travel with his family to Walt Disney World and with Gloria enjoying many cruises to Islands near and far. When not traveling he and Gloria enjoyed ballroom dancing. He could fix, repair, improve, build, paint or construct anything for anyone with his brilliant craftsmanship. But he will always be remembered as the most amazing husband, father and grandfather, who was the first to offer help, go out of his way or reach into his pocket. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all. .

Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody and his Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Honor Flight Network www.honorflight.org or a charity of your choice.

Papa The time has come To honor our dear Ned A passing resulting In many tears shed In the past I wrote poems To help process grief But to honor this incredible man I'll do my best to be brief Papa took care of everyone Whatever was needed - he was there Try to tell him no? Won't be successful, don't you dare Memories as a child That first come to mind He enjoyed a drink called Moxie And a glass of wine to unwind Many summer days Spent swimming at Papa's pool Under the deck the gem garden grew As we added jewel by jewel We spent mornings at Home Depot, The arcade at the mall The Topsfield fair and craft fairs Finding ornaments for us all We went to Chinese buffets Swung on swings he hung by the pool Doing anything with Papa Was always super cool We went on hikes up into the woods Rode the wagon in the street When we upgraded and got a jeep We thought it was pretty sweet Somehow when out with Papa And especially at wrestling meets I found a lot of quarters Scattered through the seats Find him sitting down Taking a "five minute break" Or enjoying a nice slice Of Sandra's delicious cake His grandkids grew up To accomplish goals and make plans He repped their colleges with hoodies and hats Papa was one of their biggest fans When Papa helped Mom move me into JMU We had to go to Walmart There was something important to do I had gone online and ordered my fridge But kept the color a surprise Papa shocked, exclaimed "It's purple!" He couldn't believe his eyes His grandkids called him Papa, Others called him Ned Officially - he was Natale, Except when he wed... Natale signed his name as Ned And didn't think twice But decades later He paid the price For Uncle Mike and Ryan's Challenging dual citizenship journey They playfully blamed Ned As they found themselves a good attorney Everyone he met Was treated as a friend Papa was loved by many Love for him will never end

My memories of Uncle Ned are full of love and happiness. His gigantic smile, big hug and kind words will always be a part of me. I feel truly blessed that he was a positive role model who helped shape who I am today. Thoughtful is word I would use to describe him. He would take the time to connect with all of us young nieces and nephews to make sure we knew he cared; it meant a lot to me. After our Dad, his brother Dom, passed, he would call us on Dad's birthday and the anniversary of his death to check in on us and send us love. At every Peluso Reunion he would thank me for starting the annual reunions and for bringing our family together. And every year I would, in turn, thank him for being such a amazing uncle and that I did it because of his wonderful example. Sending love, blessings and prayers.

My Father, Jack Connors thought Ned walked on water. They worked together at the PFD. He was a great friend to my Dad and left a lasting impression on me. A real gentleman, a talented craftsman and a hard working family man. I'm sorry for your loss. I know my Mom and Dad will be there to welcome him home. God bless you all. Leo Connors
