Obituary For Nicholas J. Decoulos

Peabody - Nicholas J. Decoulos, 89, of Peabody, died Sunday morning at the Pilgrim Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen F. (Manos) Decoulos with whom he shared over sixty-five years of marriage.

Nicholas was a lifelong resident of Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School. He continued his education at Suffolk University Law school from which he graduated in 1954. He maintained a general practice of law in Peabody for fifty-eight years before retiring at the age of 80. He and his wife Helen enjoyed spending their winters in Venice, Florida.

He enjoyed building their residence and many woodworking, home and yard projects. He grew flowers and vegetables in a greenhouse for his yard and for giveaways to his many friends. He especially liked restoring antique automobiles.

He is survived by his four sons, James N. and his wife Marilyn of Topsfield, William N. and Chris Hoffman of Chanhassen, MN, Peter N. and his wife, Debra of Topsfield, Paul N. of Gloucester, his brother John J. of Boxford, and his sister Peggy Farrell of Quincy. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Deanna, Demetri, Katina, Nicholas P. and his wife Stephanie, Michael P. and his wife Tanya. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Ellie and Cameron.

He was predeceased by their youngest child, Catherine E., by his grandson Nicholas W., and by his siblings, Stephen J. and Christ J.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. His funeral service will be held on Friday from the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody at 10:00 a.m., interment in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Franciscan Children’s Hospital (formerly the Joseph P.
