Obituary For Paul G. Moroney

Peabody – Paul G. Moroney 78, beloved husband of Joanne J. (Jeffrey) Moroney, died Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the Beverly Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born in Danvers, he was the son of the late Francis and Florence (Barton) Moroney. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School, class of 1961. He continued his education at Essex Aggie, Northeastern University and Bunker Hill Community College.

He served his country for six years as a member of the United States Army National Guard until he was honorably discharged.

Mr. Moroney had been employed for over fifty-six years by Star Market, which later became Shaw’s Supermarket, at many different locations on the North Shore until the time of his retirement.

A lifelong resident of Peabody, Mr. Moroney and his wife enjoyed spending their summer months at their home on the Belleisle Bay, New Brunswick, Canada. As a young man he enjoyed hang gliding, playing golf and was a longtime supporter of the Special Olympics. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, with whom he shared fifty-six years of marriage, he is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Howe and her husband, Patrick of Maine, two grandsons, Thomas Howe of NH and Jeffrey Howe of ME, a sister, Mary Margaret Morse of Nebraska, a sister-in-law, Phyllis Moroney of FL and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Peter Moroney.

ARRANGEMENTS: His visiting hours will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to Haven From Hunger, 71 Wallis St., Peabody, MA 01960 or the American Lung Association of the Northeast, 1661 Worcester Rd., UNIT 301, Framingham, MA 01701.

    Joanne,Kim and family. I am so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. I remember Paul from the time I was very young during all your visits to CAnada. I always enjoyed his company and I will certainly miss him. You are certainly in my thoughts and prayers and will be in the days to come. XO

    Having lived next-door to Paul and Joanne for 27 years, they were always extremely nice kind and friendly always said hello how are you doing. they were wonderful neighbors. we will miss Paul dearly. Joanne we will always be here for you if you need anything. Much love from the Mercer family! ❤️

    Good by my friend, enjoyed the visits to your home and camp. To the times we took on projects knowing you were not sure what I was doing, not sure if you like what was happening but went along with it lol. Sorry you missed out on coming to the camp one more time, now you can reset in piece. Hal

    Joanne, Kim and Pat I am sorry to hear of Paul's passing. I know he wanted to get up to the Belleisle especially after covid stopped most travels for 2 years. May he rest in peace.
