Peabody – Paul G. Moroney 78, beloved husband of Joanne J. (Jeffrey) Moroney, died Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the Beverly Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Danvers, he was the son of the late Francis and Florence (Barton) Moroney. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School, class of 1961. He continued his education at Essex Aggie, Northeastern University and Bunker Hill Community College. He served his country for six years as a member of the United States Army National Guard until he was honorably discharged. Mr. Moroney had been employed for over fifty-six years by Star Market, which later became Shaw’s Supermarket, at many different locations on the North Shore until the time of his retirement. A lifelong resident of Peabody, Mr. Moroney and his wife enjoyed spending their summer months at their home on the Belleisle Bay, New Brunswick, Canada. As a young man he enjoyed hang gliding, playing golf and was a longtime supporter of the Special Olympics. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, with whom he shared fifty-six years of marriage, he is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Howe and her husband, Patrick of Maine, two grandsons, Thomas Howe of NH and Jeffrey Howe of ME, a sister, Mary Margaret Morse of Nebraska, a sister-in-law, Phyllis Moroney of FL and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Peter Moroney. ARRANGEMENTS: His visiting hours will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
