Obituary For Peter F. Hincman, Jr.
Peter F. Hincman, Jr., 79, of Danvers, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the Pilgrim Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Peabody after a lengthy and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). He was the loving husband of the late Maryanne (Kingman) Hincman, with whom he enjoyed 33 years of marriage before her death in 1997.
Born in Salem, Peter was the eldest son of the late Henrietta (Dlugokinski) and Peter Hincman, Sr. He was raised and educated in Peabody, graduating in 1961 from Peabody High School, where he played football. He went on to graduate from East Coast Aero Tech in Bedford and first worked for Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut. Peter was subsequently employed at General Electric in Lynn, from which he retired as a Manufacturing Engineer after several decades of dedicated service.
Peter and Maryanne loved to travel and together they shared many memorable vacations, including trips to Alaska, Aruba, Hawaii, and the Caribbean islands. Peter was also fortunate to visit their daughter Barbara and son-in-law Brian at their many U.S. Air Force stations of duty across the United States and around the world, including in Germany and Japan.
An avid outdoorsman, Peter treasured the wonders of nature. He spent many decades enjoying the camaraderie of his family and friends, whether hunting in the mountains and woods surrounding the camp he built in North Stratford, New Hampshire, or spending summer days deep sea fishing on the Yankee Fleet out of Gloucester. He was a longtime member of the Danvers Fish and Game Club. He also loved skiing, ice fishing, gardening, working with his hands on home repair projects, and tinkering in his garage.
Peter was happiest when surrounded by his family and involved in their many activities, including teaching them how to fish or to enjoy the simple pleasures of life at camp. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments. Peter was a kind, generous, and cheerful man who will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be sorely missed by his devoted family and many dear friends.
Peter is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Karolyn and Robert Golin of Beverly, Barbara and Lt. Col. Brian Heaps (USAF, Retired) of Florida, and Kyle and Paul Blanchard of Peabody; his five grandchildren, Madison Heaps, Rachel Heaps, and Cameron Heaps of Florida, and Matthew Golin and Andrew Golin of Beverly; his two brothers, Philip Hincman and wife Helen of Wakefield, and Paul Hincman of Peabody; his sister-in-law, Barbara Jeanne Prendergast and husband Stephen of Salisbury; six nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
In addition to his wife and his parents, Peter was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Robin (Millard) Hincman.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 9:00AM until 11:00AM, with a funeral service immediately following, at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Directions and Peter’s obituary are available at ccbfuneral.com.
