Phyllis F. (Abbondanza) DeRienzo, 84, of West Peabody, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2,2023 at her residence surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was the wife of the late Richard DeRienzo Sr.

She was born in East Boston on January 9, 1938, the daughter of the late Gaetano and Virginia (Ciambriello) Abbondanza and was a graduate of East Boston High School in 1955. She had resided in Peabody for the past 52 years. She had been employed as a cashier at a supermarket and later at TJ Max stores prior to her retirement, Phyllis enjoyed cooking, sewing, and tending to her plants and her garden.

She is survived by her son, Richard DeRienzo Jr of Peabody, her three daughters and son-in-law, Patty Mento and her husband Tony of Salem, Linda DeRienzo of Peabody, and Angela DeRienzo of Danvers: a grandson, Michael Griffin of Carlsbad, CA, a brother Frank Abbondanza of Boston, MA, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Private Memorial Service for Phyllis was held by the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.
