Obituary For Phyllis M. Shea

Peabody – Phyllis M. Shea 94, formerly of Lynn, died Saturday, January 1, 2022 at the Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield following a lengthy stay.

Born in Swampscott, she was the daughter of the late Terrence V. “TV” Shea and Agnes C. (Noonan) Shea. Raised in Lynn in the Brickyard, she received her education at St. Mary’s Grammar School in Lynn and St. Mary’s Girls High School, class of 1945. She continued her education, earning an associate's degree from Fisher College in Boston, class of 1946. Ms. Shea had been employed for thirty-five years as a payroll manager for the General Electric Company at its Riverworks plant in Lynn until the time of her retirement.

A resident of Peabody for the past fifty+ years, living with her beloved sister Joan and family, she was an active member of St. Ann’s Church in Peabody. Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, especially her many trips to Ireland. She was an avid sports fan, particularly watching the Red Sox. She regularly attended family sporting events, always cheering the loudest. She also had the "Luck of the Irish": she enjoyed playing and especially winning the lottery.

“Aunt Phyllis” was the family matriarch and historian and has been the family caretaker of many generations over the years. She was a loving aunt, great-aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, all of whom she treated as children of her own: Joseph Shea and his wife, Cathy of GA, Stephen Shea and his wife, Beth of Peabody, Julianne Poole and her husband, Michael of Medway, Mary Ann Tracia and her husband, Bruce of FL and Jay Salerno and his wife, Barbra of Beverly, and her great-nieces and nephews: Ian and Rylan, Robert and Christopher, Aidan and Kiera, and Jaycee, Nicole, Max, and Charlie. She was also the sister of the late J. Leo Shea and his wife, Rita (McManus) Shea and Joan A. (Shea) Salerno and her husband, Joe.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody, Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Phyllis had been asking a lot lately about wanting to see her Parents. Now she is home with them. Say hello to both of them, as well as Leo and Joan!
