Obituary For Raymond J. Silva

Raymond J. Silva, 93, of Peabody, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Rita C. (Richards) Silva with whom he shared 66 years of marriage before her passing in 2019.

He was born in Cambridge, MA on February 16, 1930 and was the cherished son of the late Alfred and Emily Silva.

Dad was the most loving, giving, and caring person I knew. He was always there for us no matter our needs. He worked for the New England Telephone for 35 years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a proud member of the Portuguese America War Veterans Club and was a Korean War Veteran. He loved to tinker around the back yard and taking long walks. He went to the gym daily and rode his exercise bike faithfully. He and mom loved to travel to visit family on the west coast. They took two trips to Portugal and enjoyed going to Florida in the winter.

Raymond is survived by his daughter, Raylene Cafazzo and her husband Alan of Peabody; his sons, Scot Silva of Manchester, NH and Matthew Silva of Peabody; his grandchildren, Raymond, Scot, Eric, Brandon and Courtney; his three great-grandchildren, Wesley, Walter and Mia; his sister, Thelma Parks and her husband Ed of Gloucester; and several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sadly, in addition to his parents and wife, Raymond was predeceased by his sister Silvia Cecilio and her husband Anthony.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 4PM to 7PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody followed by Military Honors at 7PM. Interment is private. At the family’s request please OMIT flowers. Donations may be made in Raymond’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project by visiting www.woundedwarriorproject.org
