Obituary For Rebecca N. "Becca" Reynolds

Boston - Rebecca “Becca” Reynolds, beloved daughter, sister, partner, and friend, died Thursday, April 21, 2022 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Becca was born on August 21, 1995 in Beverly, Massachusetts to parents, Donald and Donna Reynolds. She was raised in Peabody, Massachusetts and attended Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, where she was an avid member of the theatre club, participating both as a performer and as a member of the stage crew.

Becca attended Boston University for her undergraduate degree and graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from the Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation in 2017. While at Boston University, Becca made important contributions to her community through community service and activism, spearheading a grant-funded project in 2017 that brought LGBTQ safe space and advocacy training to Boston-area educators. She was also a Resident Assistant and spent her summers working on-campus.

Upon graduating with her bachelor’s degree, Becca served in Americorps through the College Advising Corps, where she worked with high school students and helped them to apply to college. She went above and beyond and was adored by her students.

After two years of service with College Advising Corps, she transitioned into a new role at Boston University in 2019, where she was the Program Administrator for the Neuroscience Department. She also returned to BU as a student and completed her master’s degree in Higher Education. In the summer of 2021, she began working as an Academic Advisor at Simmons University. She was passionate about supporting youth and improving access to college education.

In October of 2021, Becca was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Despite her diagnosis, she remained hopeful and faced every challenge with a fierce determination to live.

In her personal life, Becca made all of her friends and family feel incredibly loved and cared for. Her bold spirit, bright personality, and sense of humor lit up every room she entered. Her compassion, her commitment to community, and her zest for life were unparalleled.

She is survived by her parents, Donald and Donna Reynolds, her sister, Cari Reynolds, her grandmother, Sylvia Reynolds of Danvers, her niece, Abigail Reynolds and her partner, Aaryn Clerk. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

  • As a brand new student at Boston University, Becca was the first friendly face and voice I recognized in the neuroscience department. Despite the struggles of the pandemic, she was there whenever we needed and I can speak for a lot of us students who were sad to see her go, but proud of her for heading to Simmons. She was a light to the department and a comfort for me as a student <3
