Obituary For Richard C Lindgren
Richard “Richie” Lindgren, 73 of Peabody passed away peacefully at home on Thursday October 5, 2023. Richie was born in Salem on August 30, 1950 and raised in Peabody. He attended Peabody High, Bridgton Academy and graduated from Nichols College with a B.S. degree in Marketing. Richie spent his career as a machinist at Eastman Gelatine Corporation in Peabody.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Richie was one of the greatest natural athletes from Peabody. He excelled at all team sports switching from lefty to righty with ease, was an expert black diamond skier, an all-star athlete in high school, and on the baseball team and captain of the hockey team in college. One of his proudest memories was playing in the World Series for the Peabody American little league team which advanced to New York falling short of Williamsport by one game.
Richie had a great sense of humor and was known for his lively storytelling especially his encounter with the wrestler Killer Kowalski and his habit of greeting his loved ones with the phrase “How you doing partner” regardless of gender. Richie was a devoted father and cared deeply about his nieces and nephews who loved him in return. He was an animal lover who enjoyed taking long walks with the family dogs Zucco and Olive.
Richie leaves behind his cherished daughter, Rachel St. Pierre whom he loved dearly, his beloved mother Lottie of Peabody and sisters Nancy McGinnity and her husband Jim of Danvers and Cathleen Heinz and her husband Bill of Andover. He was predeceased by his loving wife Sharon St. Pierre and father Robert Lindgren.
Richie had close relationships with his brothers-in-law Brian and Richie and his lifelong friend Jimmy Gabriel with whom he spent many hours watching and talking sports. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law Marge St. Pierre, sisters-in-law Susan, Linda, Christa and Dawn St. Pierre, brothers-in- law Brian McCarthy, Richie Thibodeau and Larry and David St. Pierre and nieces and nephews Stephanie, Stacey, Erin, Parker and Sawyer St. Pierre, Ross Phillips, Erik, Matthew and Andrew McCarthy, Brett and Kyle Viator and Michael, Jamie and Shawn McGinnity.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday October 25, 2023, from 4:00 until 6:00 PM followed by Words of Remembrance at 6:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richie’s name to Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave, Salem, MA 01970.
