Richard O Stanley, 92, of Peabody, died peacefully on Wednesday March 30, 2022, surrounded by his family following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Julee (Ervay) Stanley with whom he shared over 37 years of marriage. Born in Swampscott, he was the son of the late Lewis and Mary (Gormley) Stanley. He was raised and educated in Swampscott and later graduated high school in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. He then attended Penn State University of Engineering and Architecture and graduated in 1952 Richard was an architect for many years and later was a public fire loss adjuster. He also was a pilot and did search and rescue for the Civil Air Patrol. He was the proud father of Richard O Stanley, Jr and his wife Ruth, Mark Stanley, Matthew and his wife Deirdre Stanley, and Ann and her husband Mark McAuliffe, loving grandfather of Jereme and Mallorie Stanley, and Megan and Sean McAuliffe. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, his former wife Helen Louise Stanley and former daughter-in-law, Carol Murray Stanley, sister-in-law, Jodie and her husband Carlton Bradshaw and their son Carlton Bradshaw IV and by his brother-in-law, Timothy Ervay. He was predeceased by his siblings, Lewis, Francis, Jackie, Rosemary, and Patricia. Funeral services will be private.
