I just found out today of Doc Mahoney's passing, I was crushed to hear the news. Doc Mahoney was my dentist from my childhood all the way until I started going to my wife (who became a dentist). Honestly, I really wanted to keep going to him, but that would have been a bad idea on the home front. Most people hate to go to the dentist. I loved to go to the dentist. Doc Mahoney was such a charismatic person. He was hysterically funny and told entertaining stories while you sat in the chair. Doc Mahoney was magnificent at setting your mind at ease. You never realized you were having a painful procedure done on you. I loved the sign he had that said "Painless dentist upstairs". The phone rang and he picked up the phone. I loved hearing him say "Doc Mahoney!!" when he answered. He would say, "let me check my computer" and find a spot on his paper calendar. I go to doctor's offices with secretaries and all sorts of staff and I wait forever! Doc Mahoney alone ran his office by himself. I don't ever recall waiting or late appointments. He was as honest as the day is long. He never did anything that was unnecessary. He treated you like you were a member of his family. They don't make them like Doc Mahoney anymore. He was a legend. I am so glad he was part of my life for such a long time. Rest in Peace.
