Obituary For Robert C. Burns
Peabody – Robert C. Burns, 88, husband of forty years to the late Margretta E. (Scarnegie) Burns, died Sunday, August 20, 2023.
Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Robert R. Burns and Grace (Smith) Donovan. He graduated from Beverly High School, class of 1953 and continued his education, earning an associates degree in business from the North Shore Community College, class of 1985.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Navy.
Mr. Burns had been employed for nine years in customer service for the Avnet Company in Peabody until the time of his retirement. Prior to that he had worked in quality control at Middleton Aerospace and over twenty-three years as a machinist and quality controller at Walbar in Peabody. He was also a ranger at Far Corners Golf Course in Boxford for twenty-three years.
A resident of Peabody for over forty years, Mr. Burns was a life member of the former VFW Robert T. Gautreau Post #6536 in Lynn. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son, Robert D. Burns and his wife, Shawnda of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters, Linda Gelineau and her husband, David and Christine Paradise all of Beverly; five grandchildren, Shannon Davis and her husband, JD of Colorado, Lindsey Colotti and her husband, Michael of Beverly, Michael Gelineau and his girlfriend, Danielle Decowski of Beverly, Shelby Paradise of Iowa and Trevor Paradise of Minnesota; five great grandchildren, Emma, Jack and Brady Colotti of Beverly and Breckin and Joseph Davis of Colorado; two half-sisters, Trudy Burns and Bonnie Burns both of Elmira, NY and many cousins. He was also the half brother to the late Beverly Burns.
Robert’s family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center and Care Dimensions.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Friday, August 25, 2023 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by visiting www.stjude.org.
