Robert E Clarkson, 74, of Peabody, formerly of Everett and Dorchester, died Sunday evening surrounded by his family at Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Patricia A (Lacey) Clarkson, with whom he shared over 45 years of marriage.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Sutherland) Clarkson. He was raised in Dorchester and educated in Charlestown, later lived in Everett and has spent the last 9 years living in Peabody.

Robert was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served two years in the United States Army before his honorable discharge in 1973. He was employed with Philips Lighting, Telefley and retired as a technician fixing medical equipment.

Robert also was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Malden and served on many boards for the church.

Besides his loving wife of 45 years, Robert is survived by his brother of Donald Clarkson of Abington, his three sisters, Marjorie Jordan of Newton, Ruth Keenan of Bellingham, and Laura Cleary of Abington. He was predeceased by his siblings, Harold and William Clarkson and Roberta Kolz.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 1:00 until 4:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody and his Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home to which relative and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
