Obituary For Robert P. Bonefant Jr.

Topsfield – Robert P. Bonefant Jr. 64, beloved husband of Margaret McClory-Bonefant, died unexpectedly on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at his home.

Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of Robert P. Bonefant Sr. of Marlborough and the late Mary (Goshgarian) Bonefant. He graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School and continued his education at Bentley College in Waltham.

Bob’s home electronics career began in sales at HH Scott where he held Regional Sales Manager positions. He used this experience as his base for his first entrepreneurship effort at Soul Electronics. His responsibilities expanded as President of AVC Technologies to include management, marketing and product design and he grew his sales base to a global scale. He was a gifted public speaker and motivator and took pride in treating everyone he met with equal interest and respect.

A resident of Topsfield for the past twenty years, Bob had coached youth sports in Topsfield for many years and was an avid Boston sports fan. He was a member of the Consumer Electronics Association, the Sons of Vartan as well as the Knights of Columbus in Salem. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, in-law and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. Bob brought many people together with his infectious laugh and gift for storytelling. He was always quick to reach out to his longtime friends as well as newcomers from his many business trips with a helping hand and kind words of support.

The bright light of Bob’s life were his three children, Ryan, Mary, and Sean whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by a daughter, Mary L. Bonefant, two sons, Ryan J. and Sean R. Bonefant all of Topsfield, a sister, Stephanie B. Hooper and her husband, Richard of Marlborough and their son, James Hooper, a sister-in-law, Kathleen McClory and her husband, Bruce Gould of Richmond, VA, brothers-in-law, Joseph McClory and his wife, Mary of Newark, DE and Dennis Tarmey of Winthrop and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother-in-law of the late Suzanne Tarmey.

I am sorry to learn today of Bob's unexpected passing. I worked for Bob in 2017-18. He was very kind to me during the time together, and I enjoyed working with him. May God continue to comfort his wife and children. God Bless, Roberta Lewis

To the Bonefant faimily, I am deeply saddened by Bobby's sudden passing. I first met him as a youngster when we were members of the Mohawk baseball team that his dad coached. Even though my success in baseball would've been better by selling popcorn and peanuts in the stands, Bobby and his dad were always very encouraging and what was most important was they made me part of their team. I still have the hat with the big letter M, and I will always cherish it. Bobby and I recently caught up with each other on Facebook and I was hoping to see him again at some point. To his children, his legacy will live within you every day, and you should be proud that you had such a great father like him, may he rest in peace. Barry Zoll. Barrington, RI.
