Ronald G. Velez, 78 of Peabody died early Wednesday morning after a lengthy illness. He was the devoted husband of Iris (Papuchis) Velez with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late Avelino and Georgina (Enos) Velez.

Ronald worked at the Peabody Municipal Light Plant for many years until his retirement. Besides his wife, he is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Susan Velez of Peabody, David and Bethann Velez of Danvers, Kevin and Bonnie Velez of Peabody, his brother Henry Velez of Peabody, his sister Marjorie Kelly of Danvers and his 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
