Obituary For Samuel Joseph Penta

Peabody – Samuel J. Penta 80, beloved husband of Lorraine (Caldarelli) Penta, died Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Beverly Hospital.

Born in Winthrop, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Fallica) Penta. He was raised in East Boston, graduated from Boston English High School and continued his education at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy where he earned his pharmacy degree.

Sam enjoyed a career spanning over 50 years as a pharmacist, serving in multiple leadership roles in various settings including community pharmacies, hospitals, manufacturing, and consulting.

A longtime resident of Peabody, he was a member of the Dante Alighieri Society in East Boston. Sam was a wonderful cook, always working on perfecting a recipe until he reached success. He loved to travel. His most memorable trips included trips to Europe and many family trips to Naples, Florida and Disney. He always enjoyed sitting in his yard with a good drink and the latest mystery novel. Most of all, Sam loved being with his adoring wife and family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, with whom he shared over fifty seven years of marriage, he is survived by a daughter, Tina Silva and her husband, William of Danvers, two sons, Samuel Penta and his wife, Kristen of Georgetown and Michael Penta and his wife, Tunisia of Naples, FL, three grandchildren, Alex, Sabrina and Diana Silva, a sister, Sandra Penta and her fiance, Jim Brennan, two brothers, John Penta and his wife, Barbara of Yorba Linda, CA and Robert Penta and his wife, Joanne of North Reading. He was also the brother-in-law of Albert and Lois Caldarelli of Saugus, Marie and Robert Terriciano of Newton, NH and Jeanne and Thomas Pagliarulo of Beverly as well as many nieces and nephews. ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Liturgy at St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours on Tuesday, April 12th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Boston Children's Hospital, 300 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA 02115.

    Sam will be missed by all. He was a great cousin and full of life. Always cracking a joke he was funny. He was always helping me and one day, marriage eve I got to help him thnx to Ernie and Leo. I remember the good old days going to Santoros and getting Italians. I will miss him dearly R.I.P.
