Obituary For Shelly J. McGuiggan
Danvers - Shelly Jean McGuiggan age 66, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 surrounded by family and the blessings of loved ones.
Shelly was born to beloved parents, Ruth "Jeannie" Raffo and Daniel E. McGuiggan on May 22nd, 1955 in Melrose. She attended Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, where her enthusiasm was aptly employed as a member of the Basketball Cheerleading squad. She would go on to graduate from the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston, where she met lifelong friends.
She spent over 25 years in the Massachusetts Trial Probate and Family Court as a Judicial Secretary until her retirement in 2017. Shelly was regarded by her colleagues as a diligent worker and considerate mentor to others. She found a second career as an antiques dealer at the Bo-Mar Hall in Wells, Maine which gave her immense joy.
Her time was best spent with friends and family, especially her cherished cousins, on the North Shore and her family's cottage on Moody Beach on Wells, Maine. Shelly enjoyed skiing, playing golf, dancing to disco, bargain hunting, and making memories every day. Her vitality and love of life and others were unmatched and will be greatly missed.
Shelly's selfless legacy is marked by the innumerable lives she has changed through her generosity towards those in need. She will be remembered for her listening ear, bountiful advice, and contagious laughter as well as her legendary Fourth of July parties.
She is survived by her long-term partner, Mark Menici of Danvers and her two cherished children, Casey and Kyle O'Donnell of Danvers and New York City respectively, as well as countless grateful loved ones near and far. They can all find solace in knowing that she is peacefully reunited with her parents and beloved brother Danny McGuiggan.
Her family recognizes with gratitude the diligence and care provided to Shelly by the staff at Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center and Care Dimensions.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 17 Grove St., Lynnfield, Friday, September 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the York County Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 267, Kennebunk, ME 04043 (yorkcountyhabitat.org).
