Shirley M. Pearson, 91, of Peabody, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2023 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur W. Pearson with whom she shared 56 years of marriage with until his passing in 2007.

She was born in Peabody on January 31, 1932 and was the cherished daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Young) Devaney.

Shirley was raised and educated in Peabody, graduating from Peabody High School, class of 1949. After graduation Shirley worked for the former Sylvania/GTE for 35 years in which she became the company’s Senior Administrative Assistant. She was a member of the Women’s Peabody Emblem Club at the former Elks Hall in Peabody.

Shirley loved to dance. As a young girl, she danced with her brother Everett at many local events throughout the North Shore. She was an avid Red Sox fan, loved playing keno and venturing off for an occasional trip to Foxwoods Casino.

Shirley was a loving, caring, sweet, beautiful woman. She had a way of making you feel so special. Her warm smile and loving presence will be deeply missed by all those who loved and adored her.

Shirley is survived by her sister, Margaret Brewer; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Jack and Everett Devaney; and her sisters, Ruth Sutherland and Barbara Noyes.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 9:30AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30AM at St. Ann Church in Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4PM to 7PM. Interment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody.
