Sr. Agnes Pashby, SNDdeN, went peacefully home to her Good God on September 29, 2022 at the St. Julie Billiart Residential Care Center in Ipswich, MA.

She was born Agnes Virginia Pashby in 1932 in Lynn, MA to parents John F. Pashby and Rebecca (Sullivan) Pashby. After graduating from St. Mary’s in Lynn, she entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur at Waltham on February 2, 1950, making her First Vows in 1952 and her Perpetual Vows in 1957.

A true lifelong learner, Sr. Agnes had a long, varied, and fruitful career in Notre Dame. She started with a degree in French from Emmanuel College, teaching in Worcester, East Boston, Dorchester, and Shrewsbury.

After completing her M.Ed. in Math at Salem State in 1969, Sr. Agnes taught math at Notre Dame schools in Beverly and Peabody. She later became a Certified Medical Assistant, working at a medical office in Danvers. She also completed her CPE certificate and served on the Ipswich Formation Committee.

In 1986 Sr. Agnes was appointed Assistant Treasurer for the Ipswich Province. She handled each request and performed every task with the modest generosity that became her hallmark. In her retirement at Ipswich, Sr. Agnes was an active member and supporter of the Learning Center, never failing to express her gratitude for the hard working staff, and her faithful Community in Notre Dame.

She was predeceased by her siblings, John F. Pashby, Charles Pashby, and Frances (Pashby) Scoledge. Survived by her loving sister, Margaret Pashby and her nieces and nephews and their families; her good friend Clara Gaudet; her devoted Sisters and Associates in the Notre Dame community; and by the dedicated staff of the St. Julie Billiart Residential Care Center.

Sr. Agnes’ Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffreys Neck Rd., Ipswich, MA. Relatives and friends may pay their respects and share memories of Sister Agnes Pashby prior to the Mass, from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, 351 Broadway, Everett, MA 02149-3425.
