Obituary For Stephen Paul Miraglia

Stephen Paul Miraglia, 66, of Peabody, died Saturday January 22, 2022, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Lee A (Barton) Miraglia with whom he shared over 18 years of marriage and was the husband of the late Cheryl (Joiner) Miraglia.

Born in Malden he was the son of Phyllis (DeSena) Miraglia of Peabody and the late Leo Miraglia. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School, Class of 1973.

In 1977 Stephen enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 4 years and was the Strategic Airman of the Year in 1980.

Following his military service, Stephen enrolled at Roger Williams College and received his bachelor's degree in 1990. Stephen spent 40 years in the Pharmaceutical Industry as an Electric Engineer and Project Manager.

Stephen was a music lover and enjoyed cooking, gardening, woodworking, entertaining and spending time at his lake house on Long Lake in Bridgton, ME with his grandkids. He was not one to sit still unless he was drinking a good gin martini or having a good conversation or both. No matter what the circumstances were, he always put his family’s needs first.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Melissa Miraglia of Gloucester, and Jennifer and her husband Joseph Betsill of Peabody, his two sons, Eric Tarr of Bridgton, ME and Kevin Tarr of Salem and by his two beloved grandchildren Grace and Gavin Betsill. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Karen Miraglia O’Toole.

A private family service will be held at the family lot at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. A Celebration of Life will be held in late spring for all to attend. Details will be made available soon.

I feel fortunate to have known and worked with Steve for many years at GI/Wyeth/Pfizer. And you noted his love of music; as fate would have it, the last time I saw him was randomly bumping into him as we were both leaving The Who concert at Fenway in 2019. A lot of people will miss Steve. - Tim Bugbee
