Obituary For Teresinha E. Da Silva

Danvers – Teresinha E. Da Silva 89, beloved wife of the late Ernesto Germano Da Silva Ferreira, died Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the Pilgrim Rehabilitation Center in Peabody.

Born in Santa Cruz, Graciosa, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio J. Espinola and Maria Lurdes Da Silva.

She was raised in the Azores, Portugal before moving to Madeira, Portugal as a young woman. She later moved to Venezuela where she raised her family for most of her adult life before immigrating to the United States in 2019, settling in Danvers.

At the age of sixteen, Teresinha entered the convent and served her final vows becoming a Franciscan Sister of Nossa Senhora das Vitórias in Madeira, Portugal and had worked as a radiology technician at the Hospital dos Marmeleiros, Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, which was run by the Franciscan Sisters. She dedicated nine years to the Franciscan Sisters before her marriage and raising her family.

Surviving her are two daughters, Eva y Armindo Dias of Madrid, Spain and Margarita Da Silva of Santiago, Chile, two sons, Edmundo y Mariangela Da Silva of Miami, FL and Ernesto Da Silva of Danvers, ten grandchildren, Jeffery, Eva Karina, Edmundo Ernesto, Nathaly, Michelle, Jonathan, Melanhy, Victoria, Melissa and Christopher, six great grandchildren, Maggie, Fiorella, Chiquinquira Miranda, Matias, Diego and Cristian, three sisters, Deolinda Bettencourt of Calgary, Canada, Maria Fatima Silva of Calgary, Canada and Maria Antonina Quadros of Barre, VT, three brothers, Jose Espinola of Toronto, Canada, Manuel Espinola of Azores, Portugal and Celestino Espinola of Colchester, VT and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Maria de Lurdes Espinola Pais.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 3 Margin St., Peabody, Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Danvers, c/o Monastery of St. Therese, 15 Mount Carmel Rd., Danvers, MA 01923 (www.carmelofdanvers.org).
