Obituary For Theresa M. (Dempsey) Devereaux

Theresa Devereaux of Peabody, MA, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Edward P. Devereaux, of which they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage.

Theresa grew up in Somerville, MA, and was the daughter of the late Katherine and Patrick Dempsey. She was a graduate of St. Clements High School in Somerville, MA. She was predeceased by her siblings Joseph Dempsey, Patricia Boudrot and Carol Dempsey. Theresa previously was a member of the Beverly YMCA Water Aerobics where she shared so many fond memories with her dear friends.

After raising her seven children, Theresa went on to work at Ann & Hope where she held several key positions.

Theresa devoted her life to not only her seven children, but her 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and all her nieces and nephews. Theresa was the matriarch of our entire family. She enjoyed every moment spent with her family and gave each and every one of us a lifetime of wonderful memories.

Theresa was predeceased by her son, Peter Devereaux; and her son in law, Frank Mason. She is survived by her six children, Paul and his wife Diana Devereaux, Debra and her husband Dana Pevear, Edward and his wife Kate Devereaux, Joseph and his companion Elizabeth Dooley, Teresa and her companion James Holland, and Cathy Mason. She is also survived by her daughter-In-law Fiona Maguire.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut St., Peabody, Monday, February 14, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, on Sunday, February 13, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. All attendees are required to wear mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Theresa’s honor to: The Pink Angels, 26 Nell’s Pond Road, Lynn, MA. 01904.
