Obituary For Wayne R. Harding

Wayne R. Harding, 72, beloved husband of Darlene (Mallia) Harding, died Saturday August 5, 2023 at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington following a brief illness surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Charles and Virginia (Kummel) Harding. He received his education in the Peabody school system. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country during the Vietnam War.

Wayne worked at Ryder Truck before moving on to Peabody Municipal Light Plant for 25 years and then Reading Municipal Light Department where he retired.

Wayne loved fishing, hunting, spending time in Niantic, CT, spending time with his dog, Jake, watching all Boston sports, especially the Boston Bruins, never missing a game, playing poker with his friends and being around his family.

In addition to his wife, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage, he is survived by his son Jason Harding and his wife Katie Harding of Chesapeake, VA, his son John Harding and his wife Christine Harding of Peabody, and his daughter Nicole Schevis of Peabody. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren whom he loved more than anything; Faith Harding, Gwenyth Harding, Jacob Harding, Benjamin Harding, Willow Schevis and Harlow Rogers. He also leaves behind his wonderful mother in law, Grace Mallia, his sister in law Cheryl Funchion and her husband Peter Funchion and his brother in law Michael Mallia and his wife Mary Beth Mallia. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Sadly, in addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brother David Harding of Raleigh, NC.

Visiting hour will be held at Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody, on Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 1PM to 4PM with a Funeral Service beginning at 3:45PM followed by Military Honors. Interment is private. At the family’s request please OMIT flowers. Donations may be made in Wayne’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project by visiting www.woundedwarriorproject.org.

    I am so sorry for the families loss,Wayne was my son in laws father.Wayne was a very quick witted guy,he made ,me laugh all the time at his sons cookouts,He was family to me.I will miss him dearly
