Wayne R. Hopkins, 73, of Peabody, MA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Advinia Care in Salem, MA. He was the loving husband of Sandra G. Hopkins, with whom he shared over 40 years of marriage. Wayne was born in Lynn, MA, on January 8, 1950, the son of the late Herbert I. and Avis A. (Trask) Hopkins. He was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1968. He then proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Wayne met the love of his life, Sandra, while both worked at Parker Brothers in Salem, MA. She then monopolized his heart for the rest of his life. Wayne later worked for many years as an appliance technician for what is now CSE Corporation. He was very good at fixing things and used this skill to help many family members and friends. Always willing to help others, Wayne was known for his kind and generous heart.

He loved sports and was an avid fan of the Bruins, Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics. He coached Peabody softball for many years, sharing his love of sports with his granddaughters. In addition to sports, Wayne also had a great love for animals. He loved caring for his dog and cat and even adopted two other dogs when they needed a home. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

Wayne is survived by his wife Sandra; stepdaughters Gayle Fratoni of Ossipee, NH, and Odessa Burkinshaw of Peabody, MA; grandchildren Jessica Fratoni of Gloucester, MA, Casey and Eric Hudson of Conway, NH, Billy Fratoni of Peabody MA, Karina Donovan of Beverly MA, and Autumn Burkinshaw of Durham, NH; his great-grandson Gage-Michael Desmond of Gloucester, MA; brothers Ray Hopkins and wife Sue of Peabody, MA and Herbert Hopkins and wife Ellen of Naples, ME; sisters Nancy Smith and husband Hugh of Huntsville, AL and Louanne Fernald and husband William of Amesbury, MA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Herbert and Avis Hopkins, sisters Marione Barrett and Karen Sacherski, and stepson Joseph Fratoni.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visiting hour, Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody, MA 01960. A funeral service will take place immediately following at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody.
