William A “Bill” Vaughn, 73, of Peabody, died early Sunday morning surrounded by his loving family at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading following a lengthy illness. He was the devoted husband of Diane (DellaCroce) Vaughn with whom he shared over 49 years of marriage. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of the late Vencil and Rosemary (Hemp) Vaughn. He was raised and educated in Wellsville, Missouri and has lived in Peabody for the past 49 years.

Bill was a field engineer for over 44 years for Sprint Communications in Boston. He was a 4th Degree Knight with the North Reading Chapter of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed gardening as well.

Besides his loving wife Diane, he is survived by his son Eric Vaughn of Peabody, his beloved granddaughter, Tessa Anabelle Vaughn of Peabody, his sisters-in-law, Lynne Tranfaglia and her husband Wayne of Peabody, Gail DellaCroce of Tyngsboro, and by Gerri DellaCroce of Denver, CO, and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St, Peabody, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
