Peabody – William E. Mahoney 84, beloved husband of the late Dorothy M. (Simard) Mahoney, died Sunday, April 17, 2022 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Waddell) Mahoney. He graduated from Lynn English High School and where he was an athlete on the football team. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Vietnam Era as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps.

Mr. Mahoney had owned and operated R & M Cleaning for many years until the time of his retirement. He had also worked for several years at the Essex Bank in Peabody.

A resident of Peabody for many years, Mr. Mahoney was an active member of the Elks Lodge #1409 in Peabody for many years where he was a past Exalted Ruler and past District Deputy. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Salem and had a great love for golf and bowling. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving him are his two daughters, Ruthann “Rudi” Armstrong and her husband, Ray of Peabody and Marylyn Mahoney and her fiancé, Tim Lawrence of Gloucester, three grandchildren, Tyler, Danielle and Michelle, four great-grandchildren, Ava, Gavin, Noelle and Vivienne, his twin brother, Richard Mahoney and his wife, Cheri of Gloucester and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Eleanor, Marie, Roberta, Patricia, Betty, John and James.

ARRANGEMENTS: A visiting hour will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Friday, April 22, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a service in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
