Helen C. McCauley, of Peabody and Danvers, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2020. Born in Salem on October 24, 1931, Helen was the daughter of the late Peter W. and Margaret (Sampson) McCauley. After graduating from Peabody High School in 1949, Helen worked in a local Peabody law office as a secretary and then in Boston with the B&M Railroad for a few years before taking a job at Sylvania (GTE) as an HR Assistant. Helen retired early from GTE after 33 years of service to help her elderly mother. She devoted her life to her family. Helen enjoyed traveling and took trips to Turkey, Germany, England and Bermuda. Most trips involved meeting or visiting family in the different locations. Moving to Danvers in 2004, she enjoyed visits from nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins. She was a kind soul, a good friend a loving aunt and will be missed. Sister of Richard P. McCauley of Franklin, NC, and predeceased by brothers Robert, Lawrence, William and sister Elizabeth (McCauley) Leavitt. Helen was dearly loved by nephews Paul Leavitt and wife Janie, San Antonio TX, Robert P. McCauley and wife Linda Altvater, Medford MA, David McCauley and wife Maureen, Portsmouth NH, Brian McCauley and wife Alison Lambert , Biddeford ME, Mark McCauley, New Port Richie FL. and nieces Donna (McCauley) Gillis and husband Robert, Santa Fe, NM, Laurie (McCauley) Nangle and husband Peter, Wilmington, NC, and Linda Stevens, Hyannis, MA. A visitation for Helen will be held on Thursday, July 16, from 10-11A.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
