Obituary of Margaret Skaliotis

Salem – Margaret (Georgelas) Skaliotis 92, beloved wife of the late James G. Skaliotis, passed away on April 24, 2020 in Boston due to complications from the Covid-19 virus. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Theohari Georgelas. She was raised and schooled in Salem where she showed talent as a budding artist. At the age of sixty, Mrs. Skaliotis began a twenty years career in the Salem school system as a high school library aide and a teacher’s aide in schools throughout the city where she made many friends. Following the passing of her husband in 2009 and after residing most of her life in Salem, she retired to Florida to be near her sole surviving sister until recently when she returned to the New England area. Throughout her life, Mrs. Skaliotis was fiercely devoted to both her immediate and extended family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Skaliotis of Worcester, her son, George Skaliotis and his wife, Marilyn of Brookline, four grandchildren, Alexandra Zarenski and her husband, Alexander Borts of Providence, RI, Aaron Zarenski of West Warwick, RI, Joel Skaliotis of Mountain View, CA and Ross Skaliotis of New York City, NY, a sister, Sophia Georgiou of Tarpon Springs, FL and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was also the sister of the late Georgia Theophilopoulos, Stella Martin, Juile Kaechele, Carol Katsarakes, Christine Skrekas and James Georgelas. Her funeral services will be private. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
