Obituary of Marjorie L Kerwin

Marjorie L (Goodwin) Kerwin, 91, of Peabody, died April 18, 2020 at Beverly Hospital due to complications from the Covid-19 virus. She was the devoted wife of the late James Kerwin. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma Goodwin. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1946. She has lived in Peabody for the past 65years. Marjorie was a salesclerk at Jerry’s Army and Navy store in Salem for many years before she finally retired. Marjorie was active in her boy’s life, she was a cub scout den mother, scout master and scout leader for Pack 9 for over 10 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Salem and served as a Deaconess for over 50 years at that church. She was a member of the American Baptist Women’s Association of MA and past president of the Lakeshore Park Church as well. She also was treasurer of the Salem Protestant Ladies Association, an organization which helped subsidized rent for elderly women. She is survived by her three devoted sons, James Kerwin and his wife Katheryn Kerwin of Salem, John Kerwin and his partner, Mary Ann of Peabody and Joseph Kerwin and his partner Jean Chakoutis of North Andover, her beloved grandchildren, Alanna Kerwin and her partner Tuan Le, Tarah and her husband John McGrath and her two great grandchildren, Aria McGrath and Lucas Le and is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and her grand dog, Violet. she was the sister of the late John and Paul Goodwin of Salem. Following cremation, a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to www.doctorswithoutborders.org
