Obituary of Thomas P. Sullivan

Peabody – Thomas P. Sullivan 85, beloved husband of Alice M. (Dempsey) Sullivan, died Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with his wife by his side. Born and raised in Brookline, he was the son of the late Mortimer C. and Bridget (Nee) Sullivan. He graduated from Brookline High School where he excelled in sports. He was the captain of both the track team and football team. He received a four years scholarship to play football at Northeastern University and graduated with a bachelors degree. He also attended Newbury College where he earned an associates degree. He was an accomplished boxer as well. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his county during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army. Mr. Sullivan had been employed for thirty-three years as a supervisor for Northeast Airlines which later became Delta Airline, until the time of his retirement in 1995. A longtime resident of Peabody, he was a member of the Peabody Elks, had a great love for reading and enjoyed visiting Foxwoods Casino in CT. He was a loving husband and father and the three of them together were affectionately known as the “three musketeers”. In addition to his wife, with whom he shared fifty-eight years of marriage, he is survived by his brother-in-law, Raymond Dempsey and his wife, Sophie of Canton, nieces, Suzanne Craig of Stoughton and Sandra Hillcoat of Halifax and his close friend, Joseph McNeilly of Brookline. He was also the loving father of the late Regina E. Sullivan, brother of the late Robert J. Sullivan of the Milwaukee Brewers and uncle of the late Lisa Taisey. His funeral service will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Monday, February 8, 2021 at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service on Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Burial in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. All attendees are required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
