Obituary For Barbara A. MacLean

Barbara A (Bender Muse) MacLean, 89, of Peabody and formerly of Danvers, died at Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Albert P MacLean and John A Muse, Jr.

Born in Boston, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Albert Bender of Boston and her Foster parents the late Mr. and Mrs. George Moore of Danvers.

She was raised in Danvers and graduated from Holten High School in 1951. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Annunciation Church of Danvers for many years.

Barbara worked for the New England Telephone Company as a long-distance operator in Salem. She also worked for Richardsons Ice Cream Stand in Middleton and as a CNA who worked for private clients and at Danvers State Hospital at Hogan Regional Center in Danvers.

Barbara was the proud mother of seven children, Jerry Muse and his wife Linda of FL, Larry Muse of NY, Donald Muse and his wife Patricia of FL, Sharon Dello Iacono of Peabody, Philip Muse and his wife Debra of Peabody, Rick Muse and his wife Lana Ignacio of Methuen, She was the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She loved spending time with them all. She was predeceased by her daughter Judy Fountain and brother Albert Bender.

Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St Richards Church, Danvers to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visting hours will be on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.

    Barbara was more of a mother to me than mother in-law. I cherish the memories of including her in our family vacations to the mountains, beach and Florida. She had the ability to see new things like a child. I am grateful that she was a strong, consistent and positive presence for all of my family.
