Obituary For Barbara Ann Donlin

Peabody - Barbara (Ruane) Donlin of Peabody, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2023, at the age of 72. She was the heart and soul of her family, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her departure has left an immeasurable void in our lives, and her memory will forever be etched in our hearts.

Barbara shared 47 wonderful years of life and love with her husband and best friend, JD Donlin. Their journey was a testament to enduring love, demonstrating what it means to support and cherish each other through the ups and downs of life.

Barbara's love and dedication extended to her children and grandchildren, as she was the adoring mother of her daughter, Kathleen (Donlin) Ray, and her husband, Matthew Ray, both of Duxbury, MA. She was also a loving mother-in-law to Marisa (Pease) Donlin. Barbara was predeceased by her beloved son, Michael Donlin, in 2017. The family finds comfort in believing she can now be at peace with Michael for eternity.

She was an incredible, loving Nana to Brendan and Conor Ray of Duxbury, MA, and Liam and Noah Donlin of Duxbury, MA. Her grandchildren were her shining stars, and she will continue to be their north star guiding them with her wisdom, love and unforgettable memories that they will carry with them throughout their lives.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents Francis Ruane and Pauline Ruane and her sister, Kathy Ruane, of Clinton, MA. She was a cherished sibling to Paul Ruane and his wife, Ellen Ruane, of Paxton, Eileen Ruane and her late partner Gordon Army of Worcester, and Claire Kilcoyne and her late husband James Kilcoyne of Westboro, MA. Her family was her anchor, providing unwavering support and love in every step of her life's journey.

Barbara was an educator who had an impact on countless lives throughout her career. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1969 and continued her education at Salem State College, earning her degree in 1973. Her passion for learning led her to attain a Master of Education from Simmons College. Barbara's dedication to education spanned decades, with her most recent role being at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School.

Barbara's love, wisdom, laughter and unwavering support will continue to influence the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be cherished, and her absence deeply felt.

ARRANGEMENTS: The ocean holds a special place in our hearts and we welcome our family, friends and loved ones to join us for light lunch overlooking the ocean to celebrate Barbara’s remarkable life on Sunday, November 12th at 12 noon at the Danversport, 161 Elliott St, Danvers, MA.
