Obituary For Claire Halsband Poncius

Claire Halsband Poncius, 85, of Peabody, formerly of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Alliance Health at Rosewood in Peabody surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Andy Poncius whom she shared 21 years of marriage with until his passing in 2021. She was born in Swampscott on May 15, 1938 and was the cherished daughter of the late Charles and Rose (Regan) Halsband.

Claire attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School, class of 1956. After high school she worked at GE for 37 years until her retirement in 1993 (we used to tease her that with all the vacation, sick and unpaid time she took it was probably more like 19 years). Claire enjoyed traveling with her Husband Andy, crafting and doting on her grandchildren. She is fondly remembered by family and friends as being kind, loving and generous.

Claire is survived by her daughter, Jodi Comeau and her husband David of VT; her grandchildren, Corinne Comeau of NY, Casey Comeau of HI and Amanda Merrill of Peabody; her great-grandson, Antonio; and many loving cousins and stepchildren.

Her Funeral Service will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 11AM followed by an interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lynn. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4PM to 7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Claire’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by visiting www.stjude.org. I can remember Claire since I was a very young child. Living next door to her till I was 4, then visiting her and Jodi with my mother for lunches, weddings and other gatherings through the years. Brown's pond always reminds me of her and the great times we had together in my young adult life. Only to spend even more and more time with her through my older years. Sleep overs, drinking wine together, playing with the dog and all the wonderful stories she would tell me (mostly funny). She was always so warm and cheery that she could make your worse day seem great! She was one of the best caring friends anyone could ask for. Claire you will be forever missed. All my love, Heather

Miss you already Nana! Thank you for always being there to offer me kind words or just there to tell me a funny story. Thank for texting and keeping me company throughout my labors. You always made me laugh and had a good story or good advice for everything. You made the best popovers! May you rest in peace. Love you always!

Claire was always know as Mrs. Halsband...then as Maaaa. Steve Strzesak and I would go to church!!!, or at least that's what our parents believed... church was Ma's house almost every Sunday:). Claire was always kind to everyone that entered her kitchen door. Joey.
